After studying business administration at the University of Essen, Anderer moved to Saarland University in Saarbrücken. There he completed his doctorate at the Chair of Foreign Trade and International Management. He began his career as a consultant in 1996 at the international management consultancy Droege & Comp. In 1998, he became project manager and consulting manager at SAP Retail Solutions and later also at SAP Schweiz AG. In 2005, he founded the SAP retail consultancy retailsolutions together with Philipp Rohe and Jörg Frisch.
